The PPH Project is dedicated to tackling the global issue of postpartum hemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity.
The PPH Foundation reported the outputs of the pilot phase of the ROAMING blood acquisition drive, which took place from 15th September to 2nd October 2025. Prof Ogeng’o, the project champion, reported during the PPH Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum held at Pan Pacific Suites on 14th November 2025 that the drive, conducted at Pumwani Hospital and six other sites in Nairobi, as well as in Eldoret, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kakamega and Mombasa, resulted in the collection of 875 units of blood, the cataloguing of blood groups for 759 individuals, the capture of sociodemographic data, and the development of a clear process map. The pilot demonstrated the feasibility of the scheme and its functional requirements. Stakeholders approved the scaling up of the intervention to PPH hotspot counties.
