ALIGNING THE END POSTPARTUM HEMORRHAGE MOVEMENT WITH EWENE

Activity Description

This EPPH initiative continues to align its vision, mission and activities with those of EWENE, which stands for Every Woman Every Newborn Everywhere. It is a WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA-led global health initiative launched to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths and stillbirths. On 25th November, 2025, for example, Dr Kireki Omanwa a EPPH-i project co-lead, reinforced the mission of the EPPH initiative during a recent journalist training hosted by UNICEF and the Ministry of Health under the EWENE initiative. Dr Kireki emphasised that amplifying messages on postpartum haemorrhage requires linking them with other critical maternal health issues such as diabetes, illegal abortions, menopause and teenage pregnancies. Continued advocacy by focusing on matters closely related to PPH helps in reaching their wider audience and reinforces the importance of safe motherhood.
