COMBATING POSTPARTUM HEMORRHAGE IN KENYA THROUGH TRAINING OF ADVOCACY CHAMPIONS

Activity Description

The End Postpartum Hemorrhage Initiative in Kenya is scaling the fight against PPH by training pre-service and in-service Midwives and clinicians. The training module comprises, among others, the following topics:

  1. Understanding PPH- definitions, risk factors, co-morbidities, presentation, management and prevention.
  2. Global perspectives of PPH-Global, Regional, National and subnational trends, burden and prevention initiatives
  3. The End PPH initiative – conceptualization updates, progress, achievements, milestones and PPH Run 2025 campaign
  4. Role of Midwives in managing PPH and advocating for EPPH
  5. Under explored factors in PPH advocacy- research – advocacy Nexus; community involvement, sociocultural, climate change and environmental factors.

The training is being conducted by the EPPH Global Steering Committee comprising – Prof Moses Obimbo, Dr Omanwa Kireki, Prof Julius Ogeng’o, Dr Anne Kihara and Dr Eunice Atsali. The first of those took place at NATIL House, Westlands, Nairobi, on 20th June 2025.
