The PPH Project is dedicated to tackling the global issue of postpartum hemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal mortality and morbidity.
Men’s voices in fighting postpartum hemorrhage have hitherto been neglected. They are important in understanding the broader impact of PPH, and informing support strategies. The End Postpartum Hemorrhage Initiative, led by Prof Mosses Obimbo is implementing a strategy to amplify voices of men as a powerful advocacy activity in the fight against PPH. The men who lost wives from PPH are being mobilized, sensitized and engaged to share their lived experiences through conventional and social media.

Postpartum hemorrhage affects men. They may experience severe emotional distress, anxiety, depression and posttraumatic stress disorder related to their partners’ health and the potential for complications including possibility of death. In the event of death, men face the pain of losing a partner, the changing family dynamics, additional responsibility of childcare, financial strain, among others.
