SPOTLIGHTING POSTPARTUM HEMORRHAGE AWARENESS THROUGH MAINSTREAM PRINT MEDIA

Activity Description

Postpartum hemorrhage is the biggest cause of maternal death in Kenya, contributing over 50%. Yet it is only seldom reported and publicly discussed. The EPPH-I has lately taken the fight on PPH to the most widely read newspapers in kenya, On July 5, 2025, Dr Eunice Atsali a PPH survivor and secretary general of the Midwives association of kenya narrated her experience and gave a comprehensive account of PPH in the STANDARD newspaper entitled “Silent Killer: Postpartum bleeding still claims 10 mothers every day”. That was followed on 8th July, 2025 by another story in the Daily NATION by Prof Moses Obimbo, the EPPH-I project lead entitled “postpartum hemorrhage: Kenya’s silent epidemic of preventable maternal deaths.”
