AMPLIFYING MEN’S VOICES ON POSTPARTUM HEMORRHAGE: VICTOR AMBULA’S LIVED EXPERIENCE

Activity Description

The   EPPH-I continues to deliberately amplify men’s voices on postpartum haemorrhage in order to demystify a killer disease hitherto considered predominantly a women’s problem. In a patriarchal society, women’s issues are   usually not considered serious. The STANDARD newspaper on 11th August, 2025 carried a story entitled “Baby’s first cry. Fathers tears: Rare birth Complication rips family.” In that story, Mr Victor Ambula narrates his lived experience on Postpartum haemorrhage which took away his wife. The story clarifies that PPH ruins lives of families, communities and generations. It makes widowers and orphans instantly, degrades families and disempowers communities. In Kenya 10 women die every day; more babies are orphaned, but many more individuals have their dreams shattered by that bleed.
